The Life Photographic

My apologies for not writing lately. I think the excuse that sums it up best is that my time off was a bit too relaxed.
I spent the remainder of my 2 weeks off in Laguna Beach California. My days consisted of getting up late, eating breakfast in Newport Beach, and digging my toes into the sand until the sun went down. It sounds perfect doesn’t it? It wasn’t. The hot sun, my flip-flops, and the long drives all reminded me that I was no longer in New York. As much as I wanted to realize that this was a very good place to be, I couldn’t help but think that New York was going on with its life without me.
I have to mention that when I first thought of all the places I wanted to go in the U.S., New York was number one, and California number two. I’m positive that I would be very happy to be here, had I not been to one right after the other.

I’ve been back into the flow of work now long enough to start enjoying LA. I’ve had a few days in Hollywood, Pasadena, Downtown LA, and even went east a bit.

Today, here in Hollywood, when grabbing one of my many TTAs (triple-tall-americano) I stood waiting for the light to turn green to walk back to the hotel. A short asian guy approached me to ask me a question. In my head, I thought “why do people always ask ME for directions?” So he approaches, apologizes for taking up my time, then goes on to “I’m a photographer, and with your tall stature and your features, do you model?”
WWhhhaaaaaaaaaaattt?
Honestly. I am no Hansel.
So today... I blew my chances at getting my own star at the walk of fame.
A crowd of surfers await the swells of Huntington Beach CA.

Coast to Coast .... to Coast
